We are currently closed.

Out of Hours Service

When our GP practice is closed, patients should call the NHS 111 service by dialing 111 or visit NHS 111 online. All calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

What is NHS 111?

This is a simple free to call, easy to remember three digit number available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

NHS 111 directs you to the service that is best able to meet your needs, taking into account your location, time of day you are calling and the capacity of local services.

When should I use 111?

  • When it’s not a life-threatening situation and therefore is less urgent than a 999 call.
  • When you cannot see your own GP, for instance when we are closed or you are away from home.
  • When you feel you cannot wait or are simply unsure of which service you require.
  • When you require reassurance about what to do next.

Requests for a GP will first be triaged by a telephone consultation with the doctor of your choice or the first available appointment. If the doctor feels that you need to be seen face to face they will decide on the urgency and arrange for you an appointment.

We will always see you the same day if you need urgent medical attention, although we cannot guarantee that you will see your usual doctor as urgent requests are dealt with by the Duty Doctor. A telephone consultation will be made by the duty doctor and they will arrange a time depending on the urgency of the problem.

If a particular doctor is not available due to holidays, illness etc., another suitably qualified doctor will take the place of the absent doctor.

You might be asked to see our specialist nurse practitioner initially. She will be able to manage the majority of consultations but if necessary will be able to refer to the duty doctor.

If you have several problems you wish to discuss, please tell the doctor straightaway so that they can decide which are the most important. We try to keep to time with appointments.

If you are attending the surgery to see a clinician and you are kept waiting please be patient. The doctor may be dealing with an emergency or complicated problem.

If you are late for your appointment, you will be seen at the doctor’s discretion.

If you require an appointment which is outside of our advertised hours please ask as we are able to offer some appointments with our own clinicians at the surgery or through our PCN Extended access service. Sometimes we may need to ask you to travel to a local GP surgery for these appointments.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to keep your appointment.
